The Region 6 Leadership Team is pleased to announce that Mrs. Kerry Peerman has been appointed as principal of Garfield Elementary School, effective July 1, 2024.

Mrs. Peerman has 29 years of experience in education, 18 of which were in leadership roles where she served as a principal, assistant principal, and Advanced Academics Resource Specialist.  Principal Peerman is a dynamic leader, dedicated to fostering rigorous and engaging learning environments for all students. Most recently she served as the principal at Halley Elementary where she led and sustained professional learning communities with a proven track record in instructional leadership and driving school improvement initiatives. 

Principal Peerman is committed to creating a welcoming and joyful educational setting.  She embodies the qualities of effective leadership, including vision, empathy, and a dedication to continuous improvement.  In addition to her leadership qualities, Mrs. Peerman has demonstrated a compassionate and empathetic approach to understanding the needs and concerns of all stakeholders.  Like Garfield, she has experience ensuring a school-wide commitment to the principles of Responsive Classroom, building a strong sense of community and belonging, and promoting a nurturing environment.

Kerry also brings valuable experience in family engagement programs, having developed, and implemented innovative initiatives that encourage family involvement in students' education. Her cultural competency and understanding of diverse cultures ensure inclusivity and equity in all interactions.

With her extensive experience and dedication to educational excellence, Principal Peerman is poised to lead Garfield Elementary School to new heights of success. She is committed to ensuring that every student and family receives the support and resources they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while also ensuring staff have the resources and support to meet the diverse needs of the Garfield community.
